Something about Chateau L’Escadre
The Château L’Escadre, acquired in 1832 by the Carreau family, was purchased from an Admiral of the French navy. In honor of the former owner, the Carreau family named the château « L’Escadre », which is a navy term designating a float of boats. Today, Jean-Marie Carreau lives in this elegant 19th century family house, which stands among the 32 hectares of the vineyard, on a clay & limestone soil.

Mint aromas signal the wood aging of this ripe wine. It is named after François Carreau, credited with being the first in Bordeaux to graft rootstock onto vines to protect against phylloxera. The wine is full, poised between big tannins and equally important dark fruits. This impressive wine will age well, but will not be ready before 2022.
